Tutoring4Charity is a T4C initiative whose staff of academically successful high school students provide tutoring services in their strongest areas of expertise. As our tutors are all current high school students, they have an intimate understanding of what your student is currently learning and the best way to help them thrive in school.

Please note that our tutors are comfortable with both in-person and virtual tutoring, and setting can be arranged according to student/parent preference. Our tutors charge an rate of $35/hour.

Math

Tim Hsu (11th, NJ): Grade 2-7 Math, Pre-Algebra

Hey, my name is Tim Hsu and I am a rising junior at Morris Knolls High School. I've been helping out peers and tutoring fellow classmates for the past two years in highschool and found a passion for helping others! I'm thrilled to be a part of the T4C individual tutoring initiative and refining others' math skills. I have strived to take the hardest courses available for my grade level (Sophomore) such as Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry. I have also been invited to join my school's Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society early as well as become my district's secretary for Key Club. This summer, I am also self-learning AP Physics 1 as well as AP Calculus AB in order to prepare for my junior year. I look forward to meeting my students as well as helping them find their stride in mathematics!

Ethan Wang (11th, CA): Computer Science A, Calculus (AB/BC)

Hello! My name is Ethan Wang, and I am a junior from Northwood High school in Irvine, CA. At school, I am currently taking Calculus, Chemistry, Physics, and Computer Science and have attained academic excellence in all of them. I am particularly interested in math and computer science. I have extensive past tutoring experience, especially with regard to math, and I look forward to helping more students while raising money for charity!

Yolanda Cheung (11th, NJ): Grade 2-7 Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1-2, Geometry

I am a rising junior from Livingston High School, NJ. I teach science mainly in basic biology and chemistry. I took CP biology when I was a freshman, then I took honors chemistry during my sophomore year. Even though biology and chemistry have barely any correlation, both are essential in developing a thorough understanding of the nature of science. I personally enjoy chemistry labs because chemistry never fails to surprise me. To add on, chemistry is very math-based, and I have a solid algebra foundation, therefore, I find chemistry enjoyable. I also took Dynamics of Healthcare in Society, therefore, I understand the correlation of biology in the healthcare field. I can wait to share my knowledge with people who are as passionate as I am!

Humanities

Jonathan Zhu (11th, CA): European History

Samuel Zhang (10th, NJ): Grade 2-7, Biology

Hey! My name is Samuel Zhang, and I am a rising sophomore at Chatham High School. Throughout my freshman year and the summer prior, I have been very successful in a multitude of biology related courses such as Honors Biology itself, Biochem and Biotech. Next year, I will also be taking challenging science courses such as Chem, AP Biology, and AP Physics 1 to add to my plethora of knowledge. Furthermore, although I have no formal tutoring experience, I am the kind of kid in my school that gets regularly asked questions on homework, doing my best to answer them as thoroughly as possible. Over the years, these small interactions have made me a much better teacher, one accustomed to teaching a variety of people and identifying their needs and areas of growth. Armed with this proficiency in biology and my skills as a teacher, I sincerely believe that my students will be well prepared for high school science.

Yolanda Cheung (11th, NJ): Chinese

I am a rising Junior at Livingston High School. I am a Chinese tutor at T4C. I was born in Hong Kong and moved to Livingston in 7th grade. Even though Cantonese is my first language, I learned Mandarin by taking Chinese classes after moving to America as well as watching a lot of Chinese dramas. To add on, I passed the AP Chinese exam with a 5 last year as a freshman, therefore, I have a lot of experience with Chinese speaking assessments, as well as creative Chinese writing. I love Chinese immensely because learning Chinese could introduce me to a whole new world. Additionally, I aspire to share this special language with everyone and am excited to explore Chinese culture.

Ryeo-Won Kim (11th, MI): French = Korean

My name is Ryeo-Won, and I am a junior at Troy High School. I began learning French in 8th grade and have enjoyed learning French ever since. I have taken French up to level 4, earning gold, bronze, and silver medals at the Grand Concours, and will be taking French AP this year. I like to watch French movies on the airplane and listen to French songs in my free time (I can introduce you to some that my teacher played for us!). I look forward to meeting you Frenchies out there and I hope to be able to help you with whatever you need to improve your French skills!
