Explore the Brain, Biology, Space, and Chemistry Through Hands-On Experiments!

In this one-week science course, students will explore different areas of science through interactive lessons, demonstrations, and hands-on activities. Each day will focus on a new topic, from how our brains and senses shape the way we experience the world to how living organisms, physics, astronomy, and chemistry help explain everyday life. Through experiments and group activities, students will build curiosity, observation skills, and scientific thinking.

Course Overview

🧠 Day 1: Psychology: How Our Brains and Senses Trick Us

Students will explore how the brain uses senses like smell, sight, and taste to understand the world. Through activities such as a taste vs. smell test or a color and emotion experiment, students will learn how perception and expectations can affect what we experience.

🌱 Day 2: Biology: Living vs. Nonliving Things

Students will learn what makes something alive by studying characteristics of living organisms. Younger students will sort examples into living and nonliving categories, while older students will discuss more complex examples such as fire, seeds, bacteria, and viruses.

⚙️ Day 3: Physics: Forces, Motion, and Engineering

Students will explore how forces affect movement through simple hands-on activities. They may test paper airplanes, balloon rockets, or small building challenges to learn about motion, gravity, friction, and design.

🌌 Day 4: Astronomy: Exploring Space

Students will learn about planets, stars, moons, and the solar system. Through models, discussions, and creative activities, students will explore how objects move in space and why astronomy helps us better understand Earth’s place in the universe.

🍦 Day 5: Chemistry: Making Ice Cream

Students will end the week with a fun chemistry experiment by making ice cream. They will learn how salt, ice, temperature, and mixing work together to change ingredients into a new form, connecting a hands-on activity to real chemical and physical changes.
